Ben Peach and John Horne

Following on from the previous afternoon's geological mapping, we get to meet the professionals who surveyed and explained the geological successions up here in Assynt at the end of the last century. 

The extra shows their commemorative plaque at Inchnadampf and incidentally they stayed in the same hotel that we are using. I think it may be Ben Peach who has been rattling our closet in the middle of the night. Not sure why, but maybe he had something more to say.

We are told they did the whole mapping thing on horseback with armies of helpers, but it must have been hard toughing it out with the rain and the midges in tweeds and plus fours .
