Stralsund

We went into Stralsund for a look around on Sunday morning as the place looked good from the small amount we knew about it. We parked in one of the squares and had a good wander about. There had been thunderstorms overnight and there were still big puddles around and that seemed good for blipping. We then went to Rostock to see the tall ships that were around for the Hanse Sail Rostock festival. It was warm and very relaxed; even the fair seemed relaxed and nothing like the slightly sleazy and threatening feel you seem to get here. It was also noticeably cheaper than here with the big wheel 3 Euros as opposed to the £9.50 here at the festival. Stralsund is not a Germanic name and that’s because it was part of Swedish Pomerania until after the Napolionic wars. Sweden sided with France and suffered subsequently. Whatever it’s a lovely old city in the Hanseatic League.
