In the pink!

This tiny hoverfly is on a late flowering geum. I bought the plant from Oswestry Show a couple of years ago and joked that it came with free hoverflies as they were all over it. It's still popular with them. The wings are so beautiful, just like stained glass.

Typically on a day when I had a blip, there was something going on at the castle.  Local volunteers were clearing out the moat as it gets clogged with reeds and other plants (extra photo).

It's time critical as moorhens use the reeds for nesting.  It was being done today to be clear for Bank Holiday Monday when the village fete takes place and the moat is used for canoe hire. I always miss the fete as  clashes with Shrewsbury Folk Festival every year and I always attend that.
