Migrant in Moscow

Vladimir

After much controversy about size, location and the man himself, the statute of St Vladimir has turned out to be quite a popular feature in Moscow. I think it has blended in well to its eventual site on an empty knoll opposite the Kremlin.  I blipped the statute being installed on 19 October 2016.  I see that he has weathered a bit since then.  Vladimir is the Patron Saint of the Russian Orthodox Church revered for having introduced Christianity to Russia, or more correctly, to her predecessor, Kievan Rus - hence he is claimed in equal measure, if not exclusively, by Ukraine.
