By the banks of the Thames

I went to meet painter Rodney Kingston  at his home in Staines.

You might remember him from Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2016.

I'm an admirer of his work because he paints 'en plain air' which just means  'outside'. He doesn't use photographs as reference or an iPad with a grid app, he just takes his easel out, finds a new with nice light, and paints.

The results are stunning.

I was slightly early for my appointment so stopped off by the Thames and took this shot. Something that would be hard to paint I feel.
