Book Fest again!

It is the last day of the summer holidays!

MrsCyclops and CyclopsJnr had a day out, doing things of CyclopsJnr’s choosing.

First, we hung out in our PJs watching TV and playing with Lego.

Next we went swimming.  CyclopsJnr has been pestering us to go swimming since he was in hospital!  He seems pretty well and is off the meds, so we had a go.  It was great!  No problem.  And swimming is happily a cost-neutral activity now that MrsCyclops has joined the Village Hotel gym.

Home for lunch.  Special request of fish fingers and chips.

In the afternoon CyclopsJnr wanted to see a show.  We have the whole of the various Edinburgh festivals at our disposal, but by this point they are pretty expensive and I have found the quality difficult to gauge.  So I went for something at the Book Festival as this is at the cheaper end and handy for our house and the quality is a bit more… curated?  We went to see Magic, Giants and Jellybeans with Adam Guillain & Charlotte Guillain. We were not familiar with their books but they were on at a convenient time!  Well they did a lovely event for pre-schoolers, where the kiddies all sat on cushions up front.  We heard a bit about the lives of the authors and how they wrote the stories for their own kids, then they read two of their books accompanied by a lot of costumes and props and silly voices.  There was also a bit of singing and dancing and joining in.  It was really nice, CyclopsJnr enjoyed himself.  Afterwards I said he could choose one of their books (he chose one about an Egyptian Mummy) and we had it signed.

All was going so well that we grabbed a babyccino in Caffe Nero (our favourite, as they do marshmallows) then we realised we were near Daddy’s office so we dropped in to say hi.

A busy day!
