Carol's ramblings

AJ

Having spent the night in AJ’s flat, up early as it had been arranged for me to collect her a 10am. She had a hospital appointment at Poole but currently inpatient at Bournemouth! With staff shortages they did not have anyone available to escort so agreed to take her (had already made these arrangements before she was admitted to hospital). Got there at 10, slight delay in her arriving but into the car and “sat nav” directed me to Poole. Arrived in good time, checked in and then on to X-ray - slight delay (think they forgot us, waited 40 minutes). Appointment with consultant went well, he has discharged her, from his clinic, happy that new bone is growing :). Back to Bournemouth, spot of lunch then back to the ward.

AJ quite emotional today, mixture of thinking of Mum, being in hospital and not sure what the future holds for her. She has a chest infection and this is bothering her too.

Back to AJ’s flat to drop the wheelchair and blue badge, then on to Weymouth for a brief review. This went well, left there around 5pm. After a comfort and “tea” stop at the services, arrived at mums just after 8pm.

Mum was asleep and looked pale but rested. The district nurses have been in, yellow folder in situ and written up for just in case medication. Mouth care carried out regularly and regular fluids encouraged. Played some old songs for Mum, often gets some response which it did although it was more like a cry with no tears. :(

Long day, rest day tomorrow .....
