Early Morning Walk for Max

We have a new dog! After three years since our yellow lab died, we decided to go for another doggie. This one is Max. He is 14 months old, and some combination of hound and Dalmatian and who knows what else. He was originally rescued from Puerto Rico after the last hurricane, and the people who rescued him are just starting new jobs and did not feel it was good for max to be alone 10-12 hours daily.

We are the beneficiaries; he is well behaved, completely house trained, barks seldom, walks without pulling and knows his basic commands. He was not crate trained, so the first time we left him for about two hours in a crate, he managed to bend the metal and brake a couple welds trying to get out. Fortunately he was not injured. So we have to figure out the best plan to re-introduce the cage and to get him comfortable staying alone when we leave. We have now had him for one week, and we are told by rescue organizations that it takes about two weeks for a dog to adjust to new surroundings, family, etc.

So far, so good.
