Trauma Teddies

Busy day today, doing loads of small errands before having a nice walk in Princes Street Gardens, where I met Barbara from Children 1st. Barbara was holding a knitted teddy which was what made me stop to talk to her.

Turns out that her charity are working with Police Scotland on the Trauma Teddies campaign appeal.

This appeal is a partnership project between Children 1st and Police Scotland, where knitted teddies will be provided by police officers to comfort children affected by traumatic events. Trauma teddies will be given as a simple distraction to help take a child's focus away from potentially upsetting circumstances and help police officers build a relationship and turn the experience into something positive.

Barbara was there giving out teddy knitting patterns as they are always looking for people to knit the wee bears that are given out. For more info:

The scheme began in Dundee and is now spreading rapidly throughout Scotland.

The campaign is such a good and caring idea and I would encourage all you knitters to get knitting.

A good day, all in all, and I hope you have had a nice day too.
