The "Never say Die" Tree

Some things inspire me, and this tree is perhaps the most striking example.
It must be 24years since it was struck by lightning, set on fire and lost all but one major bough that thrust out defiantly over the water.
For four years it appeared to have died, and then the first few leaves came back and it came to life again.
Exposed and torn as it is, lashed by the elements and even waves when high winds lash the lake into fury, still it persists despite the enormous odds against it and puts on it's summer finery of leaves.
And each year as you can see in the images, it loses a few more branches , that lie below it till they are washed away.
Please see the additional images, one taken on 01/05/2015 as it looks in winter, and one taken today.
I Come every year to marvel at it and record it's progress.
In olden days this tree would have been regarded as touched by God.
It stands bravely at the end of Buttermere.
