Hockeridge Wood - Sequoiadendron

A walk today in Hockeridge Woods, somewhere we have never been before.  They are remarkable.  Owned by the Royal Forestry Society, they have over 50 different species of tree from around the world – including these wonderful Wellingtonia Sequoiadendron Giganteum, which was not what we were expecting.  They were given to the Society by Mary Wellesley, a great, great granddaughter of the Duke of Wellington, in 1986.

Interesting history too: https://chilternsaonb.org/ccbmaps/579/137/hockeridge-and-pancake-woods.html

We will return!
