Return to the North

Ancestral seat!

One of the reasons we came to the SW of Scotland was that it is the likely seat of our ancestors. My father was a Scot and sis has been doing family research (quite a challenge when there are so many James’ and Robert’s in the line!!!). All clan books etc however point to the name originating in Wigtownshire area so today we went to the old ancestral seat - Sorbie Tower down near Wigtown.
Before that we had a wander in Wigtown itself (known as Wigtown the book town) - lots of fun mooching round the many book shops. Lots of money spent by sis too! For me the interest was in the martyrs stone in the old church yard.
