Cooked Crab

I was surprised when a grey crab shell I picked up on the beach turned orange after a day in the sun on my windowsill. Apparently it has a carotenoid pigment - astaxanthin - that absorbs blue light and appears red, orange or yellow. (No crabs were harmed in the making of this Blip).
