A fool’s errand

I’m letting my computer crunch data for SETI.
My hunch is that the chances of finding anything during the next thousand years is close to zero.
I mean, the universe is 14 billion years old. How long does a technological civilisation like ours that’s able to produce radio waves last?
It’s like being given a hundredth of a second to listen for someone to fart in a football stadium during a cup final.
