Catch a Mermaid - in Vensac

Many of the rural communuties in France are very proud of their villages and keep the centres looking well cared for.
Often in summer months you can see displays in the main squares. The town of Vensac usually fills its square with figures, often depicting local crafts or traditions. The centrepiece this year is this fishing 'cabane' and 'carrelet' (net) with mermaid. I have yet to see any mermaids swimming in the waters of the Gironde myself.

Some of the other figures are in today's extra.
