Restoration of Old Buildings

Went to lectures today about conservation of old buildings. The two guys are James Innerdale (left), and Alan Gardner who gave the lectures. Both were very knowledgeable- Alan knows loads about dry rot and damp. They were also very entertaining and gave hints and tips on how to repair and maintain old homes.

Why the teddy - well if you were restoring the teddy would you pull off its head and sew on a new one or just repair it sensitively by stitching in a new bit using original materials and techniques- a least that was the gist of it.

The course was run by the Heritage Skills Initiative.

Is it me or does Alan have a certain demonic look. He did liken removal of render to Hannibal Lecter.
