The Dash

Sadly, we attended the Funeral of a friend’s husband . He had been a Geography teacher at Shaftesbury School so the Church was packed and the tributes very special; they were particularly moving as he had died at the young age of 57 before taking retirement.

This is a short quotation from a poem read out in the service . I’d not heard it before and found it very pertinent.

“.......For it matters not, how much we own, the cars..the house...the cash. What matters is how we lived and loved and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard; are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left that still can be rearranged......”

The ‘Dash ‘ refers to the time on our tomb stones between birth and death .
