Resurgence of Rail?

This is the view east from my village, the road goes eastsoutheast towards Hatley and thence towards Cambridge, once it joins a bigger road.  The course of the former railway line points east once it has run under the bridge in the centre-bottom of the photo.  The former railway station lies to the right of the bridge, just this side of it.

And the railway line might return; the "Cambridge-Oxford arc" is a subject of discussion now.  Unfortunately it's also a large road (expressway) and an associated conurbation, meaning that the Government (or the National Infrastructure Commission) is aiming to increase the housing in this area, not merely to solve the transport problems.

George Monbiot wrote an article about it recently; he wasn't optimistic . . .
