Marlborough Country

I know very little about wine, but I did know that I wanted to come here to Marlborough, home one of New Zealand's most successful exports.

We did a wine tour around a variety of vineyards, every time you turn the corner a place name is also the name of a vineyard, there really are Wither Hills, a Cloudy Bay and this photo is looking out over the Brancott Estate.

I'm not sure if it was here exactly but about 40 years ago they were the first vineyard to plant Sauvignon Blanc grapes in Marlborough which was to kick start put New Zealand wine industry.

The photo is taken from outside their restaurant, which had huge glass windows looking over vineyards as far as you could see.
