First Glimpse of Norway

After a detour around Salisbury and a delay waiting for air space at Heathrow, we finally made it into the air, landing at Oslo this afternoon. First glimpses from the air, emphasised just how vast Norway is, with stretches of water, ( as you would expect), dotted about everywhere.

After a few minutes of orientation we found our way to a very Italian pizza restaurant!! It is true - the prices are eye watering .:)) 150 Kronos for a calzone pizza ( about £15) .
First impressions:
The architecture that we have seen so far is dramatic and stark( think Gulag... ) -with lots of building going on as there is so much money available from oil and taxes.
We were struck by the beauty of the Opera House built to look like an ice- berg with marble and white granite . We walked on the roof which slopes in different directions offering striking views of Oslofjorden ( see extras). The smaller sculpture in the water can be walked to in the Winter when it’s iced over .
The people are so friendly - running after us to offer directions when they overheard our questioning which way to go .

Lots to see but now it’s time for Zzzzz! :))
