Speeding Homeward

The final day and another beautiful one of blue skies. Bah. Out to IJmuiden we convoyed, crossing over to the north side of the river and back, before a quick call in at SW’s beloved AH, and a finally a sit out at the vis cafe on the quayside for a last gerookt makreel broodje.
And a fellow cyclist fell in with us as we left the port - Dave from Leeds, who had cycled from Berlin. Nice chap.
So, that’s our jaunt over. Some 350 odd miles covered. A bit more downbeat than usual I’d say - MrT’s health was a worry, and his pain palpable at times. And we’d few dry evenings for the first week. That said, some fine places - Deventer was terrific and the little campsite at Zalk was memorable. Though I think the maritime Netherlands is way more attractive than the agricultural; I think we may need to rebalance the itinerary for next year, if there is one, of course.*

*God willing. Prayers welcome.
