Blocking

I’ll tell you a secret about filming period dramas called ‘blocking’. Historical venues go a long way to set a scene saving productions a fortune on set building and props. However modern street furniture such as road signs, tourist information panels and staff of resident cars pose a problem with authenticity.

One of the tricks is ‘blocking’ using vintage vehicles such as this mighty fine Bedford truck to literally block out the modern objects.

I’m able to share this image with you as I’m back blipping several weeks after filming and the background is part of the Dockyard and NOT a set. Tricks of the trade!
