Day 10

Before we set off this morning we explored Penmon Priory, the church, the dove cote and cemetery.  A fascinating place, the carvings in the old church, the dragon over the door, the huge dove cote, all the old slate gravestones.  Only the new part of the cemetery is neatly mowed, this old area is wonderfully wild and overgrown, a haven for wildlife and wild flowers. I do love graveyards and reading the inscriptions, imagining who the people were and what their lives were like.

Time to head back north.  Sad to leave Anglesey, I know we will be back, we seem to have a thing about islands and there is so much more to see and explore!  A lot of motorway driving for Mike, as we headed up to Lancashire.  Sunshine all the way!  We ended up on an empty site, two whole fields to ourselves, a Shire horse and foal next door, and with views that went on for miles.
