Seraptorte

I am a notoriously messy cook - nothing I made ever looks like the picture, and generally looks like a big gooey blob. Today's effort at Sachertorte went much the same way - although it is at least edible, so I'm still pretty pleased with myself! We went to the market in the nearby village Timi this morning as there is a South African lady there who has a home-made jam stall. I was hoping she'd have apricot jam for the torte, but she didn't as they are not in season, so I went with a beautiful plum jam instead. So the really blobby bits on top are bits of plum from the jam - the recipe said to sieve the jam, but I couldn't be bothered, and I like "bits" anyhow.
