Dredging Lyttelton Harbour

A major dredging project which will deepen Lyttelton Harbour's shipping channel may have to dodge a German World War II minefield.
Lyttelton Harbour's entrance has been surveyed for signs of the mines by Boskalis, the company which will do the work using giant dredge, the Fairway. No mines were located.
The Fairway will dredge 2m deeper than ever before in the general area where German minelayer Adjutant laid 10 mines, thought to weigh up to 1000kg each, in 1941. The German mission also included laying several mines across the entrance to Wellington Harbour.    Stuff.co.nz - 3 September 2018

We didn't get too close! so no blast from the siren for us. It's a massively long vessel - quite daunting.
And we were so fortunate with the weather today - it’s been really dodgy for paddling lately.
