London

Today is Ann's birthday.  We had decided to spend a couple of days in London so took the train to Marylebone where we checked into the Travelodge.

We met Emma at Waterloo and walked via South Bank to Southwark for lunch at a vegetarian restaurant called Tibits.  An interesting concept where the meal was priced by total weight of the selections from the buffet.

After lunch we walked to the so called Walkie-Talkie building on Fenchurch Street.  This 35 story glass office block has three floors of semi tropical garden on top of it along with cafe/bar, restaurant  and massive 360 degree viewing area. It is known as Sky Garden. Normally you have to book to get up to the viewing area, though entry is free, Emma used her influence and connections to get us in and we were whisked up in a very fast lift.

We had a coffee and spent some time sightseeing, and taking photos, from the open terrace at the front of the building, very impressive.

Eventually we left to make our way to London Bridge station, stopping off at a very nice, and unusual, bistro for a drink.  Then back for tea at Pret on Baker Street.

The extra is a picture of Tower Bridge taken from the viewing terrace.
