Wall of Green, Madrid

This array of vegetation is on a building on the Paseo del Prado, opposite that great museum in Madrid. It's very near our hotel, and I took shots of it this morning and then in early evening after dark--the latter shot is much more effective, and you see it here.

We arrived this morning from JFK in New York, on a very smooth flight, and found our hotel room ready. After a bit of a nap we had lunch nearby and then visited the Reina Sofia not far away--it is Madrid's signature museum for modern art, established in the 1980s initially to display Picasso's Guernica. It's in an old converted hospital, and it is huge (in size it trumps even London's Tate Modern). In fact it has enough space so that most of the works are hung with lots of room around them--which I think works very well. We especially enjoyed seeing the Guernica again (previously it had been in New York's MoMA, until Spain claimed it after the end of Franco's rule).
