Thursday: Jaye

Meeting Jaye today was an amazing experience.

She now lives in an assisted living facility in north Vancouver but Jaye is one of the last three surviving 'Atagirls', who flew spitfires and other aircraft in WWII. There were 168 of them and their job was to deliver aircraft to their bases around the country.

Jaye is flying to Ottawa on Saturday to attend the screening of a film entitled 'Spitfire' and to chat to the audience about her experiences. She flew from 1943 to 1945 and emigrated to Canada in 1948.

Aged 99, she Is still amazing. Full of interesting stories and gifted with perfect recall.
