After the Kyna.

Grandfather’s lopper

I do like using garden tools I have inherited. My grandparents brought their garden tools (as well as their maid and their dog) when they left Cork, Ireland to live with their daughter and her family near Liverpool in 1958. I did not appreciate, aged 8, what an enormous upheaval it must have been for them.
This lopper was used in their orchard and by my mother in the orchard of the Nine Elms, I only use it to keep some exuberant shubs under control.
