an itching in my thumbs

this is what i think: i love these rosebushes.

this is funny because i am not the kind of girl for roses, vased or planted or otherwise. i am for wilder things, for snapdragons, for magnolia trees, for crazy, wild blooms. but today, the roses were wild.

we have rosebushes on either side of the front door and in the back, too. i've grown fond of them, their endless cascade of colors - red, pink, yellow, you name it, we've got it. i've grown attached to it, expecting a bloom every once in a while, expecting explosive color, petals everywhere.

sometimes when i type the keyboard just flows, i don't even think before i move, and those are the best times. sometimes moving before you think isn't such a bad thing.

people told me i'd come to understand that easy feeling and well, even eternal optimists can be pessimists in small parts of their lives with enough pushing in that direction. well, i think i was wrong. i'm pretty sure i was wrong.

i should've spent the afternoon trying to do all that schoolwork tomorrow. instead i wrote a twenty-odd postcards, talked to my mother on the phone, and wrote a letter. sometimes you just got to live - i'm already on vacation, who cares if it's not wednesday yet and there's much to be done, much to be done?
