Collioure

Walked here from Argelès-Plage today along a rocky coastal path, watching sunbathers on little beaches and commandos diving off a RIB offshore. Collioure was a favourite place of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, who had a house in Port Vendres, half an our further along the path. Matisse and Derain produced paintings here that were so exuberant that the artists were nicknamed “Les Fauves”.

As for me ... I’m loving being warm again, loving the sun and the colours and the fact that French people chat to me in French - though one man did wonder if I was Italian ...
