Election Day

This is probably one of the prime spots for election posters and 10 parties are represented on these posters so it seemed a good picture to represent election day! Nine of the parties got enough votes to gain places on the local council, and/or the county, and/or the state.
We left home at 9 o'clock in the morning and got back home after a long working day at four the following morning.
We had two hours off for lunch in the middle of the day and this picture was taken as we were headed back to work.
The polling station was open from 8 o'cklock in the morning until 8 at night.
After the polling station closed we had to add in all the 670 ballots that were cast in advance. Until we close the voting station any one of those 670 voters can come in and reclaim their advance vote, so we can't do this before closing, though we can tick them off on the register as "P" (preliminary vote).
Then we take the lid off the ballot box (extra)and counting commences…
