Morning Light, Two Jacks Lake

We had a 6am start from the hotel in the hopes of catching a wonderful sunrise over Two Jacks Lake. However, although it was dry as we left the hotel, the heavens opened as we arrived at the lake. We decided to sit in the van for half an hour and were rewarded by the rain stopping (for a while!) with lots of breaks in the clouds - so although we didn't get any "proper" sunrise shots we were treated to some lovely light over the lake.

After retreating to the hotel for a late breakfast we set off for Banff. Although the rain returned we were treated to some impressive views along the Bow River towards the Banff Springs Hotel from Tunnel Road. The photos from there seemed best suited to a gritty monochrome treatment - see the first extra.

By this time it was raining heavily so we spent a couple of hours in Banff town itself. Three of us visited the rather lovely old-fashioned natural history museum where I captured a shot of a bald eagle - I'd love to think it was alive but I admit it's a stuffed one in one of the many display cases! (second extra).

Thanks so much to everyone for their stars, hearts & comments on yesterday's blip. I have to confess that our busy schedule doesn't leave much time for commenting so please forgive me (I'm sure you will!).
