Sir Isaac's Apple

This apple fell from Newton's tree;
of course, it is cross-pollinated.
But it's good enough for me
to know that this apple and his are related.

They're cookers, you know,
though nothing like as nice as Bramleys.
But to plant it and watch it grow . . .!
I could have more fun than a child in Hamleys.

So, next question is: when to plant it?
That's the thing!
No time like the present - granted!
But then again, should I wait till spring?

The apple's a lot more wrinkled than the last time you saw it! But I can't decide when to plant it. And should I plant just the pips or the whole apple? Advice, please, horticulturists!
