Santorini

Undeniably one of the most beautiful Greek Islands, in the Cyclades, Santorini, it’s rugged volcanic landscape and architecture always impresses.

That said, from the port to the main town of Thira is an altitude of nearly 750 feet, which can be accessed by one of three ways, donkey, cable car or walking. However, as the queue for the cable car was like for an execution and donkey welfare is our top concern, it meant that the 587 steep steps had to be climbed. Yes, totally knackering!

The welfare of the donkeys is now being taken seriously, with all donkeys now having to be registered and with charities always looking on to make sure the donkeys are ok (still a lot of concerns). Last week, the Mayor of Thira committed the council to further improvements, which has to be welcomed. My blip today is if the beautiful Catholic Church in Thira.

Off to Mykonos tomorrow.

I hope you have had a good day.
