Portpatrick

Today we packed up and left our little apartment which was on the ground floor of the hotel on the cliff above the village.  We had a lovely view of the harbour from our (not very clean) windows, and the apartment was fine, quite basic but suited us for the time we were there.  My collage is of the hotel, and also the view down to the harbour from the hotel.

We headed back home via Kirkcudbright and Dumfries, a big loop of country.  The weather was lovely and and countryside pristine, beautifully maintained farms and houses.  We stopped at a garden centre outside Dumfries for a bit of lunch, and were home in time for dinner.  I had made mince and tatties for the freezer, a request of Helen's when she is up, and we had that after some home made watercress soup.  The three of us were happy.

It was a great few days away, and we went to bed tired but happy.....

Concerned for Claire and family on the Outer Banks as Hurricane Florence approaches.  They are hunkered down and prepared but it is always hard to know where the hurricane will hit..... looks like Wilmington is going to be the black spot.
