Crater

This is part of the Gaza City fishing port, not far from my home.

The site was targeted in an airstrike with two missiles on Saturday afternoon and two more yesterday afternoon. The windows were blown out in some buildings nearby, and some debris is scattered on the road.

The situation in Gaza is still extremely tense and dangerous. Attacks are occurring continuously, and the number of people killed is rapidly rising.

So far, 58 civilians have been confirmed dead, including 18 children and 12 women. 622 more have been wounded, including 175 children and 107 women.

The stories are horrific. Family homes have been reduced to rubble, killing women and children and leaving people trapped in the wreckage. I was reduced to tears upon seeing television images of the four Al Dalu children, their tiny lifeless bodies gathered together on a slab in the morgue.

Groups of people gathered in open spaces, such as mosques, have been hit. An intellectually disabled man was killed by a shell. The shameless violations of international humanitarian and human rights law are continuing. It's a massacre.

One of the media offices I wrote about yesterday, the Al Shorouq tower, was targeted again today, and I've heard unconfirmed reports that two journalists were killed.

There are talks of a ceasefire, but the demands on either side seem like they will be unacceptable to the other. Who knows what the future holds.
