Dicing with Death

Lots of bright colchicum flowers in the garden today but an apparently dead spider on his web caught my eye too.  A smaller spider had also noticed and darted up and down the thread nervously investigating.  Eventually he risked a few exploratory prods at the inert body on the web.  He was enveloped in silk in a flash as the trap was sprung.

While Jamie was engrossed in an extended English lesson this morning I potted up some bulbs I'd picked up at the talk on Tuesday along with a few remainders from my own sale bulbs.  A good afternoon meeting with folk from GIDS who are supporting Jamie (and us) was followed by a spell of pottering in the garden, collecting seeds and pulling weeds.

Glorious sunshine on a perfect early autumn day.  Just one of many colchicum pics as extra.
