Mynydd Troed

We had a free afternoon and it was a good day so we went into the Black Mountains to go up Waun Fach the highest hill. We parked to the west and made our way easily up the ridge of Y Grib (see extra) before heading up to the undistinguished high point. There is the base of an old trig point, but it’s not on the highest point, so we wandered about on tussocks before we thought we found the highest point. Thankfully as it’s been dry it was firm underfoot and we didn’t get our feet wet. There has been a lot of path work in the peat so the erosion is recovering. We went down the south west ridge to Pen Trumau where the blip was taken. The sun was catching the pasture in the glen and there was a good view of Pen y Fan the highest point in south Wales  beyond.
