Moon cakes season

Mid autumn festival, AKA moon festival, AKA lantern festival is coming up on 24th September and moon cakes are usually eaten at this time.

In the past we have enjoyed egg custard moon cakes, courtesy of The Peninsula, but not off late. They taste better warmed up a bit and with a cup of tea :).

There’s a fine selection here at a rather upmarket supermarket, and I was really surprised by the array of flavours. Lotus seed and custard remain our favourite.

After bible study, I headed up to China to ‘do’ a few things, and my partner in crime today was the delightful Sharon.

We had a lovely time up there and got most of what we needed done. And on the way back, did get a custard moon cake each to enjoy on the journey home.

Looking forward to a quieter weekend after two full on weeks, and also bracing for one of the biggest typhoons ever to hit Hong Kong! And hopefully it’ll be gone by the time we all fly out on Monday!!!
