The Northern End

Today we took the car up the lake to Colico, right at the top of the lake on the east bank. Colico is the end of the line for the ferries, and not that many get that far.

On the way up we stopped off for a coffee at Gravedona, an attractive town on the west bank.

I have been told I should visit the forts at Colico, there are two, a first world war fortress, and a much older fortress dating back several hundred years. On this occasion we skipped the forts in favour of lunch in the town.

On the way back Carabinieri had set up a check point just outside Colico and were checking driver and vehicle documentation. Just as well I had only had water with lunch. Quite heavy traffic all the way back to Lenno, so progress was a little slow.

Quick visit to the supermarket before returning to the apartment.
