Godwits and potholes

At the moment the local mud flats are playing host to lots of bar-tailed godwits.

The bar-tailed godwit is a long-billed, long-legged wading bird which visits UK shores for the winter. It breeds in the Arctic of Scandinavia and Siberia and hundreds of thousands of them pass through the UK, on their way further south, or stop off here for the winter.

I'm sorry that it is such a poor photograph but I am ill-equipped for bird photography.

Extra. Our village street has long been in dire need of repair. The Council have just painted new white lines across the potholes. I guess that the repairs aren't imminent, or perhaps the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is up to?
