Nanchang 2012

ON A SUNNY SUNDAY...

A wonderful cool and sunny day...when the fog lifted at about 11am...I went out on my bike and toured the cities streets and back allies, ending up here at the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Mary Virgin, a small and elegant Cathedral tucked away on a back street here in Nanchang.
We think of China as Temples and Monks, but Churches and the Clergy have been here too.
It is a quiet time here now, it is cool and fresh inside, a place of peace...but it became more of a holy space when a young Chinese girl, dressed for the cold in a yellow jacket, her backpack still on, just decided to sit down at the piano and start playing...resonating the nooks and curves of the Church with the beauty of her music...a truly spiritual moment...(Photo by Iain Dewar)
