Rochdale Canal

completed in 1804 linking Sowerby bridge to Manchester an extension of the Calder and Hebble canal was used to transfer goods i.e. wool products from Halifax and surrounding areas to Manchester and onwards to the Americas and Africa.
and a lovely place to walk today too
