Late sailing

At least the wind has died down here, which is good. We went down to the town this afternoon, to Rockfield, as Mrs M was to pick up some food she'd ordered through 'Food Assembly', a group that organises the buying and selling of local produce.

I drove along the Esplanade in search of a Blip and boat-lovers among you will be delighted to see CalMac's 'MV Isle of Lewis', belatedly setting sail for Castlebay, on the island of Barra. I say belatedly, as she normally sails at 13.30 and today she was three hours late; maybe something to do with yesterday's disruptions. Boat-haters will have to wait 'til tomorrow when I promise I'll Blip something else!

Built in 1995 by Fergusons of Port Glasgow, the largest ship ever built there, she's the second longest ship in the CalMac fleet and one of only two over 100m. (The longest is MV Loch Seaforth, currently on the Uig-Stornaway route) I suspect that snapper will have something to say about the poor old 'Isle of Lewis' if she see this Blip!

Here she is sailing out past Oban's war memorial.
