Headlands

The fog briefly lifted revealing a succession of headlands stretching into the distance. He thought about the future that was mapped out for him - finish University, the job at the bank, marriage - either to his current girlfriend or to the indistinguishable one that would follow - the children who would be followed by the Labrador and the second home in the Cotswolds or Devon. Then the fog flooded in and the future was, once again, hidden.
