locked up

Returning from Venice, I came across these locks on an old bridge. A new cultural phenomenon attached to an old artefact. The new and the old meet, for  me at least, in a collision. The old had a purpose, the new....
While I understand the sentiment behind the locks, they seem superficial, indications of intent rather than practical acts of commitment or remembering.
Anyway it set me thinking of what locks I want to remove and become free from their grasp. In most cases I discover I hold the key! Knowing that allows us to take the first step in emancipation.. maybe not only of ourselves but of others
