Carol's ramblings

Returning home

With the alcohol intake from the night before, you would have thought the wedding party at our hotel had slept well - not all! The more nature of the party, did not sleep well, it was too noisy, too cold and they were tired this morning.

Breakfast at 8:30 this morning in order to be ready to leave by 10. My uncle was not sure where he was this morning and clearly needed to be home in familiar surroundings. Saying our goodbyes to my cousin and her partner managed to squeeze them all in the car - AJ a little squashed in the middle but uncomplaining.

The journey - 3.5 hours in total - didn’t start off well, leaving Finchley we tackled the Saturday shopping traffic out of London by the North Circular and then M4. Google indicated a number of “red” traffic areas to avoid, so A33 down to the M3, A303 to cut off the Winchester hold ups, and then on through Romsey to get down to the M27 before home for auntie and uncle. Whilst the passengers were not complaining, my uncle continued to tell us “I’m lost, i don’t know where you are taking me” and although reassured he said he “wasn’t confident” with our sat nav travel!

Auntie and Uncke safely home, then on to AJ’s home via a drive through to get sandwich lunch (2:30 by this time). Sorted through some paperwork with AJ after coffee and lunch, then the 1.5 hour journey back to our house in the pelting rain.

Back home, Chinese take away and rest :)

Thankfully Sunday tomorrow for a day off to recover. Good and interesting weekend and a lovely wedding.
