It was completely rebuilt using limitless funds in a remarkably short time after the disastrous earthquake of 1693, Baroque was the fashion, and in probably the first earthquake planning anywhere, they gave loads of space between the fabulous buildings, so you can really stand back and admire.
We had sad news when we got back to our apartment, Tad's sister's partner died yesterday after a short but brutal illness.
She doesn't want us to go right now, but after the funeral we'll visit her in the Netherlands.
