Walking on Water ... Bellingham Style

Taylor Dock, part of the Greenway system, connects Fairihavîen with the
waterfront area of downtown Bellingham. It is a renovation of a 20th-century industrial dock which served the maritine and cannery industries. Now, it is a favorite of strollers and bike riders with wonderful views of the islands, Bellingham Bay, and Southhill neighborhood.
There are many stories about the origin of the little island you see in the photo. The one I like the best is that when they was at cannery built over the water there, waste from the manufacture of cans was dumped through a trap door in the cannery.
The train running through the bottom left corner of the photo is an empty coal train comming back from Canada.
